Rao Ali Shaan Khan has been helping New Yorkers with their home buying, selling and ownership needs since 2016 as a Real Estate Associate Broker with Charles Rutenberg Realty.
Shaan believes that a commitment to professional development is essential to providing the highest level of service to consumers. As such, Shaan has earned several of the real estate industry's highest professional designations and certifications, including Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR), Seller Representative Specialist (SRS), Pricing Strategy Advisor (PSA), At Home with Diversity (AHWD), Real Estate Negotiation Expert (RENE), Graduate Realtor Institute (GRI), Commercial/Investment Real Estate Certification (CIRE) and e-PRO.
Shaan has been recognized as a Top Performer by Charles Rutenberg Realty on multiple occasions, including Top Performer Gold status in 2022.
Since 2020 Shaan has served as a Director of the Long Island Board of Realtors (LIBOR), one of the largest local Realtor boards in the United States with approximately 30,000 members. He currently serves as Chair of the Bylaws and Strategic Planning Committees.
In 2020 Shaan was appointed the Chair of the Long Island Board of Realtor’s first-ever Diversity and Inclusion Committee, which aims to coordinate activities related to increasing the overall diversity and inclusiveness of LIBOR membership and leadership participation to ensure knowledge of Fair Housing practices throughout the real estate community.
In 2021 Long Island Business News honored Shaan with its Diversity in Business Award.
Shaan has served as a Director on the board of the New York State Association of Realtors since 2021 and is a past Director of the National Association of Realtors. He serves on committees on both the state and national levels.
Shaan is also a Licensed Real Estate Instructor and teaches at the Long Island Board of Realtors.
Prior to working in Real Estate, Shaan served under Manhattan Borough President Scott M. Stringer for 7 years. As his Director of Community Affairs and Constituent Services, Shaan spearheaded efforts to reform and empower Manhattan’s 12 community boards, which resulted in increased education and professional training for members as well as a dramatic increase in the appointment of minorities and historically under-represented communities to the boards.
In addition to his work on community based planning and land use issues in Manhattan, Shaan is especially proud to have authored Led Astray, a 2013 investigative report that shed light on systemic abuses within New York City’s Animal Shelter system.
Shaan is a graduate of New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Marketing as well as a Minor in Psychology.
